SEED is proud to announce a new Dyslexia Parent Group, which aims to educate parents about what exactly dyslexia is and what they can do once they know their student is dyslexic.
Run by volunteers, the group hopes to increase training for Lafayette teachers on identifying students that are at risk for dyslexia and enhance school-based awareness of interventions and supports for students with this profile.
This year, the Dyslexia Parent Group will have two trainings for the upcoming School Year. The first one will be on Wednesday, Oct. 16th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with James Bylund, Psy.D., ABSNP and Christine Oates, Psy.D., ABSNP. The topic will be: Dyslexia and Comorbidity – What is Dyslexia? How is it diagnosed? Why do students with dyslexia often have ADHD, Anxiety, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, etc.? Location TBD.
We will also present a round table discussion with a dyslexia expert on Interventions and Methodologies – What are the differences between the methodologies? More information available soon!
In the meantime, be sure to follow us on our Facebook page for upcoming happenings.
