Sensory Processing Disorder Webinar Series
Child’s Play Therapy Services is offering a great parent educational series this fall!
The first half of the series will be given by the occupational therapy department, and include six classes breaking down the impact of Sensory Processing Challenges. Research indicates that parents of children with SPD report an increased level of stress, child outcomes, and overall family quality of life. Parent education programs have been found to directly increase a caregiver’s understanding of SPD, as well as their sense of competence in parenting, thereby decreasing overall stress in the dyad. This series begins the week of Sept 12.
The second half of the series will be given by the speech department, and will cover topics such as:
- What to expect with your child’s language, outlining general language development
- When my child isn’t talking…..?
- Supporting language and cognitive development through play
- Social and pragmatic language, how we make friends
- What is a fluency disorder, and how do we treat it?
